There are various reasons why a CD or DVD drive is not detected.
First check whether there is Yellow exclamation point on CD/DVD in Device Manager. If yes ,Go to the device manager. Uninstall driver and then check for hardware changes. This will again install the CD/DVD driver software .If the problem still exists then open registry editor.
- Go to run. Type regedit (Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog box.)
- In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.UpperFiltersLowerFiltersUpperFilters.bakLowerFilters.bak
- If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete.
